Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager develops, implements, manages and promotes environmental health and safety programs.

Key Responsibilities

-Develop, implement and maintain specific environmental health and safety programs, procedures, and processes, University wide.
-Coordinate university wide building safety inspection program, which includes fire, life safety, chemical and general safety.
-Document and follow up on corrective action plans and submit reports as required
-Investigate and communicate the root cause of accidents/injuries and near misses
-Prepare professional reports with findings and corrective actions
-Provide and document occupational health and safety training
-Utilize continuous improvement principles in all EHS responsibilities
-Cultivate a positive culture of safety by role modeling safe behavior and a demonstrated commitment to safety
-Respond to off-hours emergencies

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field
-Four (4) years experience in environmental health and safety
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

-Masters degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Safety, Occupational Health and Safety or related field
-Seven (7) years experience in occupational health and safety
-Higher education health and safety experience
-Biosafety experience
-Industrial hygiene experience
-Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
-Working knowledge of current EHS regulations

Salary range has been approved at $70,000 to $75,000 annually, commensurate with education and experience. Includes a competitive benefits package. Offers of employment may be conditional pending successful completion of a background investigation.
