Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of this balanced teaching/research position is to teach sedimentary geology and other geoscience courses that meet the curricular needs of the Department as well as University’s General Education requirements, and to develop a research program in Sedimentary Geology.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant is expected to establish a vigorous, externally funded research program in Sedimentary Geology and supervise graduate students (40%); teach approximately four classes per year at the undergraduate and graduate level including courses in Sedimentary Geology (40%); and contribute to department and university service (20%).

Minimum Qualifications

-PhD in Geology or closely related field by the time the appointment begins.
-Interest in field-based teaching and research in the Intermountain West.
-Effective communication skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications

-Evidence of effective teaching.
-Experience mentoring students.
-We seek an individual who will value and facilitate collaboration in the department and university.
-Expertise in field-based Sedimentary Geology, with a demonstrated potential for collaborative research incorporating innovative analytical, technological, and/or quantitative techniques.
-Research interests in sedimentary basin evolution or a related field, utilizing a range of spatial and temporal scales, complementing existing departmental strengths.
-Interest in recruiting and working with students from diverse backgrounds.
-Interest in co-teaching a one week module at ISU Geosciences’ summer field course.
